Dendritic Opal and Sterling Silver Pendant Necklace

Dendritic Opal and Sterling Silver Pendant Necklace - This opal variety is termed "dendritic" due to its internal collection of dendrites - fern-like inclusions of iron, manganese, or other metallic oxides that create bold patterns within the gem. These gemstones are considered one-of-a-kind, as no two dendritic patterns are exactly the same. It is a fabulous stone of black and white.

I did not want to deter too much from the natural beauty of this stone, so it is simply set in sterling silver to which I lightly patterned.  I have added three granules/balls of silver to the bottom. The sterling silver has been polished by hand, lightly oxidized and buffed, and tumbled to achieve a slightly rustic patina.

The pendant measures 1 1/2" round - the total length is 2 1/4" including the bail. The sterling silver pendant hangs from a 20" long, 4mm wide braided black leather cord, and fastens securely with a sterling silver lobster clasp.

All metals used in this design are .925 Sterling Silver.

Jewelry is made using traditional metalworking techniques, including soldering, filing, sanding, texturing, polishing, and tumbling in my home studio.  Jewelry comes wrapped in a cotton-lined gift box and ships quickly.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

NOTE:  100% of the proceeds from the sale of this necklace will be donated to Miracle Horse Rescue, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me help those who cannot help themselves!
