Reticulated Sterling Silver and Golden Rose Cut Moonstone Cabochon Earrings

Reticulated Sterling Silver and Golden Rose Cut Moonstone Cabochon Earrings If texture is desired, these are the earrings for you! I have taken a sheet of sterling silver and put it through a process known as reticulation. The silver is heated, cleaned, heated, cleaned, etc. several times. Each time it is heated the copper in the sterling silver is brought to the surface. During the last heating with the torch, it begins to melt - and creates the most amazing texture! The process of reticulating silver never yields the same result twice. It is a laborious process...but I love result!  The texture achieved on this particular sheet of silver resembled craters in the moon.

Once reticulated, I cut two 7/8" rounds, soldered a ring to the back, and a sterling silver bezel, which holds a beautiful, 5mm Golden Rose Cut Faceted Moonstone Cabochons. The metal has been buffed by hand, oxidized, and polished to bring out the highlights. These earrings hang from my hand forged, sterling silver ear wires and measure approximately 1 1/2" in length.

These are most definitely one of a kind!
