Dendritic Opal and Sterling Silver Necklace Dendritic Opals have clear to translucent surfaces with distinct dendritic patterns, resembling tree-like inclusions. This beautiful specimen has pure white edges, with a translucent gray interior, spiked with these mesmerizing and distinctive patterns. I find this stone to be quite magical!
The opal has been set in sterling silver, surrounded by a wreath of sterling silver granules. I added a bit of interest by hand sawing a scalloped edge, and then gave that border just a tiny bit of texture. The sterling silver has been darkened and polished by hand to acquire its beautiful and rich patina.
This one of a kind statement pendant measures just under 2 3/8" in length and is approximately 1 1/2" in width at its widest point. This pendant includes a sterling silver, 20" length, 1.7mm box chain, which closes securely with a lobster clasp..
