Boulder Ribbon and Hubei Turquoise Necklace

in: Necklace

Boulder Ribbon and Hubei Turquoise Necklace- Originally discovered in the 1970's by a herder who stumbled upon a vein of turquoise on the hillside, Ribbon Turquoise is from the Boulder Turquoise mine in northeast Nevada.  The stone cutter did true justice to this specimen - that vein of turquoise clinging to its host rock  gets me every time! I have bezel set this turquoise in fine silver, and surrounded it with sterling silver embellishments onto its double thickness backplate.  The silver has been darkened and polished to bring out the highlights.

I have added a chain of 6mm Hubei Turquoise, interspersed with oxidized and polished sterling silver beads. These two types of turquoise - literally from opposite sides of the world - combine to make a truly beautiful statement necklace! The necklace fastens securely with a sterling silver lobster clasp.

Please be sure to zoom in on the photos to see the details of this necklace up close and personal.

This beautiful, one of a kind necklace measures approximately 21 1/2" in length.  The pendant measures 2 1/4" in length and is 1" in width at its widest point.

All metals used in this design are .925 sterling silver and .999 fine silver.
