14K GF and Sterling Silver Hoop Drop Earrings I love mixing metals in jewelry! I have combined a hand cut 14K GF (Gold Fill) Rings that has been hammered all around, adding a bit of texture - and a bit of shine when worn, too! The GF hoops are suspended from a hand cut and formed sterling silver ring, to which I added texture with stamping. The earrings feature beautiful ear wires with a row of granulation (tiny silver balls) on the front part of the ear wire. The sterling silver has been darkened with patina, polished by hand, then tumbled where the metals achieved a beautiful shine. These lightweight earrings have no dress code - wear with jeans or that special black outfit!
These two tone 14K GF and Sterling Silver drops measure just under 1 3/4" in length from the top of the sterling silver ear wire to the bottom of the GF ring.
Please zoom in on the pictures to see the details of these lovely two toned earrings up close and personal!
All metals used in these earrings 14K GF and .925 sterling silver.
A Note about Gold Fill vs. Gold Plated Jewelry: Gold-filled jewelry has a thicker layer of gold that's bonded to the base metal, while gold-plated jewelry has a thinner layer of gold that's electroplated onto the base metal. Gold-filled jewelry must contain at least 5% gold, while gold-plated jewelry can contain any amount of gold, but it's usually very thin. Gold-filled jewelry can be cleaned with a cloth and mild soapy solution, but you should not scrub the finish.
Jewelry is made using traditional metalworking techniques, including soldering, filing, sanding, texturing, polishing, and tumbling in my home studio. Jewelry comes wrapped in a cotton-lined gift box and ships quickly. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
