Kingman Turquoise Necklace with Artisan Sterling Beads and Glass Cabochon - I have come to the realization that it is time to "use up the good stuff". How many of you have heirloom china or silver in your cabinets that only grace your dining room table on "special" holidays? Life is too short for that! So, I decided to use the most exquisite beads in my stash for the chain portion of this Statement Necklace: Kingman Mine Turquoise. The Kingman Turquoise Mine is one of the oldest and highest producing Turquoise Mines in America. It was originally discovered by prehistoric Indians well over 1000 years ago. Kingman Turquoise is known for its beautiful sky blue color and produces many variations of blue Turquoise. The beautiful nugget-style beads in this necklace measure between 8mm - 9mm and are interspersed with gorgeous sterling silver Bali Beads.

On the other side of my studio is where I keep my growing stash of cabochons.  This stunning, handmade made glass cabochon was made by Mikelene Reusse. I cannot get enough of her glass - her colors are intense!  The beautiful "flower" appears to be floating on top of clear blue Caribbean waters. I have bezel-set this stunning glass piece of art in sterling silver, and added a tiny 4mm Black onyx cabochon to the bail. The cabochon measures 31mm round (approximately 1 1/4").

Lastly, I added six sterling silver domed beads, which I cut, stamped, and forged from sterling silver sheet. The process for making this sterling silver domed beads is quite labor intensive - but - I think the overall effect is worth the effort.

All metals used in this necklace are .925 sterling silver, which has been slightly darkened, buffed by hand, and tumbled to achieve a beautiful rustic patina. The necklace fastens with a simple clasp forged from heavy sterling silver.

Measurements: Overall length: 20 inches; Total Pendant Drop Length: 49mm (just under 2").

This is such a beautiful Statement Necklace meant to be worn for years to come!
